Job Summary

As a Funding & Incentives Specialist in Rovo you will be responsible to identify, apply for, and manage funding opportunities from national and European grant programs. This role is instrumental in driving our innovation, international growth, and tech development by unlocking access to financial incentives that support our strategic objectives - particularly for the Assembly Studio platform.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, a strong communicator, and has a solid understanding of the funding landscape in Portugal and Europe. You’ll work across departments to gather information, write compelling applications, manage timelines, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.

  • Proactively scout for relevant grants and incentives aligned with company goals, including but not limited to:

      • Horizon Europe
      • EIC Accelerato

  • Lead the end-to-end grant application process: from eligibility checks to drafting proposals and coordinating inputs from technical and business teams.
  • Write clear, persuasive, and technically accurate content tailored to the grant criteria.
  • Ensure timely submission of applications and supporting documentation.
  • Maximize R&D tax credits and export support grants every year.
  • Manage post-award reporting requirements including milestone tracking, audits, and financial justifications.
  • Liaise with funding bodies, auditors, and internal teams to ensure compliance and optimal use of funds.
  • Collaborate with Product, Finance, and Business Development teams to align grant opportunities with company priorities and with external consultants where needed (e.g. for complex Horizon Europe or EIC Accelerator programs).
  • Maintain a grants calendar, track deadlines and application status.
  • Provide internal reporting on grants pipeline, success rates, and outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications (Must-have/Nice-to-have)
Must-Have Skills
  • 3+ years experience in grant writing, R&D incentives, or public funding (bonus if in fashion, manufacturing, or tech).
  • Strong understanding of the Portuguese and EU funding landscape, especially programs like SIFIDE, PT 2030, Compete 2030 and other EU backed programs.
  • Exceptional project management skills: ability to manage multiple applications, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills — ability to turn business plans into high-scoring proposals.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Bonus: understanding of fashion supply chains, B2B SaaS, or custom manufacturing.
  • Fluent in English (and ideally Portuguese too).

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Technical or scientific background (STEM or innovation-based industries)
  • Familiarity with EU project budgeting and reporting (e.g., H2020/Horizon Europe cost models)
  • Experience using grant management platforms or CRMs
  • Knowledge of IP, innovation strategy, or technology transfer processes
  • Understanding of fashion supply chains, B2B SaaS, or custom manufacturing.
